Moorings

Moorings at Stour Sailing Club

The moorings in the Manningtree and Mistley area are managed by the Stour sailing Club in partnership with Harwich Haven Authority and the Crown Estate Commissioners who have delegated responsibility to the SSC.

There are approximately 130 moorings in the area, all dry out ar some point so most of the vessels based in Manningtree have bilge keels, lifting keels, or no keels!

Moorings are only available to boat owners who agree to follow the rules in full, and the facility may be removed without notice if the rules have not been followed. The full regulations for all moorings in the Manningtree area are here.

Applications will be considered by the Moorings Master who will allocate moorings according to the size and type of vessel and space available, after a fully completed application form is received. A licence will be issued on receipt of payment and then an annual fee is payable on 1st April.

Most moorings in the Manningtree and Mistley area are for 'smaller' vessels, but vessels longer than 9 metres (29ft) overall, deeper than 1.5 metres (4.5ft) draught, or multihulls, may be accommodated by special arrangement and specific approval.

Boat owners who do not wish to become club members can still apply for an Affiliate mooring and also use the hard and slipway. Affiliates will pay the current fee for a mooring and an additional annual fee to contribute towards the administration and maintenance of the river facilities. ALL mooring users MUST have a minimum of Third Party insurance in place at all times, anyone founding to have failed in this regard may lose their mooring without further dialogue.

To contact the Mooring Master via email use, moorings@stoursailingclub.co.uk or further contact details can be found here.

Visitors are very welcome!

Visitors' vessels can lie alongside the quay or there are 3 visitors' moorings available for vessels making a high water visit, or which can happily settle on to the mud. If you want to discuss your visit, particularly if wishing to use the quayside you are strongly recommended to contact the mooring master beforehand to avoid possible disappointment.
