Welcome to the Stour Sailing club

The Stour Sailing Club was formed in 1936 and is situated on the south bank for the River Stour in Manningtree. The clubhouse was purchased in 1970 and is in an enviable position facing the river. It features fabulous facilities incorporating a very friendly club bar with balcony, library, parlour, toilets & showers.

Opposite the clubhouse on the waterfront, the club offers access to a short concrete slip leading to a gravel hard. Next to the hard you’ll find our East compound with benches and a race starting hut. In the summer this compound is covered by a marquee and is used for regattas, social gatherings, sailing and rowing events.

Moorings Adjustments ahead of Lift Out

As part of this work, a local mooring contractor will be on site and there may be an opportunity for members to have their own moorings inspected, adjusted, relocated or serviced at the same time. Depending on numbers, a group booking may help reduce costs for everyone involved. More »

Compound Conundrums

We have a full compound with a waiting list of members waiting for a space to become free so that they can bring their boats down and sail. At the same time there are boats that have arrived in the compound that are not marked and may not have booked and paid for a space, including some that have passed their sell by date and have not touched the water for far too long, More »
